Redesigned Materials and Activities
CHEM 224 students will participate in the following activities:
Watching selected YouTube videos such as the following:
Students are encouraged to watch the videos before class, and then discuss and critique the video content as they solve problems during class.
During class, students will be placed into small groups and participate in a "jigsaw" activity:
- Each small group is assigned a problem;
- The groups solve and discuss the problem they are responsible for;
- Each member of the group will be the "expert" on their problem, and will explain to members of the different groups on how to solve it.
Students also participate in working on several examples and textbook problems on the whiteboard during the 224 session, and each problem is critiqued and discussed:
