Faculty Reflection - Course Redesign Program (2014-2015)

During this round of redesign I felt that I improved my skills as a facilitator.  During my first year teaching CHEM 224 I learned a lot of misconceptions and pitfalls of how students were learning the material.  One general example is that students were looking at various organic chemistry mechanisms as individual processes, rather than how mechanisms are related and connected to each other.  This year, I also focused on skill development as part of keeping students engaged - for example how to organize the information they are learning and strategies in critiquing each other's problem solving methods.
